Projektbeschreibung

URBAN DISTRICT CENTER
A city that has grown in Central Europe consists primarily of a central old town center and various former suburban communities that have been incorporated as individual districts over the last 200 years.
This was also the case in Salzburg. In the course of contemporary urban development, it is important to renew old settlement relationships (to waterfronts,  to topographical conditions and to urban connecting axes) as well as to use outdated, fallow areas (parking lots, former commercial areas) for more efficient urban use.

DEVELOPMENT AXES
It is important to continue working on newly created or incorporated districts in order to increase their attractiveness and give them a self-confident, individual character so that residents can identify with their district.
Two important factors are, firstly, a certain density of the building mass to enable the creation of space and good connections to the overarching public transport network. These two factors ensure a continuous frequency of people who spend time in this place at all times of the day and thus create an urban lifestyle.

NEARBY SURROUNDINGS / REFERENCE ZONES
It should be possible to achieve a good mix of areas of life in the exhibition center development area: living, working, shopping, leisure, sport, education, research and culture in order to generate a new, vibrant district center that conveys a sophisticated urban lifestyle. A pedestrian connection to the surrounding streets and recreational areas also plays a major role in embedding the development area.

DESIGN CONCEPT
The core of the development concept was to cover the inefficient, monofunctional parking areas with a green roof garden. This should serve as the center of the complex and as the basis for a mix of functions with very short distances. The Donauplatte and Seestadt Aspern can be seen as examples, albeit on a larger scale. However, with the advantage that no artificial natural spaces have to be created, but that the planning area in the Lieferinger Au is embedded in the naturally grown local recreation area.
There is, however, another decisive ecological advantage of the location of this planning area. It is not necessary to seal new ground areas for the project planning! The entire project is being built on the designated area that has already been used as a parking lot.
